Precinct Chair Filing begins today

Precinct Chair filing begins today. Anyone can sit at home and gripe about things. By becoming involved as a precinct chair you can be a part of the solution.

Does my neighborhood already have a Precinct Chair?

Check the Precinct Chair list to see if someone is currently serving as Precinct Chair in your neighborhood.   If someone is currently serving, call them up to find out about their efforts to organize the precinct and ask if they plan to run for re-election.

If they are an active and effective Precinct Chair consider assisting their efforts.

Running for Precinct Chair:

To run for Precinct Chair, you must file an application  to be placed on the Primary Election ballot.  The voters in the precinct choose who will lead the precinct in contested races. To reduce election costs, only the contested Precinct Chair races will appear on the ballot.

The 2012 Primary Election is March 6, 2011.

Precinct Chairs filing begins on September 13, 2011 and continues through 6pm on December 12, 2011.

The deadline to file as a “Declared Write –in Candidate “  for Precinct Chair is 6pm on December 17, 2012.

How to file for Precinct Chair

Thank you for getting involved and being willing to serve the voters in your Precinct!  We have much work ahead to beat the Democrats.  It is great to have more people join the fight. Working together we can make difference!

The Tarrant GOP is here to assist you.  Our office does not take positions in contested Precinct Chair races. We strive to be fair to everyone.  Maps and Precinct voter lists are available to any Precinct Chair candidate that asks for it, please ask.

The process for filing for precinct chair is similar to that of filing for other elected offices.  There is no filing fee for precinct chair. The application to file for Precinct Chair

If you are already a Precinct Chair, you will need to file again for the new term. Unless you re-file, you will no longer be a Precinct Chair when your current term ends on June 11, 2012.

You must re-file between September 13, 2011 and December 12, 2011 for a new 2 year term.

The deadline for a “declared write in candidate” is 6 pm on December 17,2011.  While it is possible to be successful as a write- in candidate, it is more difficult if your race is contested.  Not all voters will take the time to “write in” a candidate’s name.

TIPS

  • Please do not wait until the last day to file.  The last day of filing is very busy.  If your application is incomplete
it could result in your application being rejected.  If your form is rejected before the filing deadline, you have the option of
completing a new application. New applications must be received before the filing December 12, 2011 filing deadline.
  • Please do not ask us to make corrections to your filing form after it has been notarized.  The law does not permit us to alter your form.
  • Because of redistricting and pending litigation, it is possible for your precinct number to change. At present we do not know
when the Courts will resolve district lines. We have no way of knowing which precincts may be affected.  If this
happens, we will contact you and ask you to re-file your application for the new precinct. If this occurs, it is extremely important that you respond promptly to emails or phone calls from our office.

What is your precinct number?

Your Precinct number can be found on your voter registration card. Look for it.

TCGOP Candidate Platform Review

In an effort to address  grassroots frustrations with candidates and officeholders who run for office under our Party banner, yet lack an understanding of Republican principles, Rule 43 was adopted by the delegates at the 2008 Texas Republican Convention.

To comply with Rule 43, all candidates filing to run in the 2010 Tarrant County Republican Primary will be given a copy of the Texas Republican Platform to read, and a Candidate Platform Review Form which asks candidates if they agree, disagree or are undecided on 10 core Republican issues.  Candidates are also asked to affirm that they have read the Texas Republican Platform.  All responses obtained locally will be kept on file at Tarrant County Republican Headquarters.

It is understood that Judicial Candidates will not be able to complete the questions on the 10 core Republican issues. You are however, encouraged to read the Platform and sign the affirmation stating you have done so.

Should you have questions, comments or concerns please feel free to contact our office.
