Petition to Defund National Public Radio (NPR)
Our nation has a $1.6 trillon budget deficit and we are $14 trillion in debt, taxpayers cannot continue to fund an organization like NPRthat can and should survive on its own private fundraising. NPR’s member stations receive an average of about 10% of their funding from the government-backed Corporation for Public Broadcasting and in 2011 they were appropriated appropriated $430 million dollars from the federal tax payers.
NPR should operate free of taxpayer subsidies and we support theDemint/Coburn bill (S.492) that would do exactly that.
Sen. Jim DeMint (R., S.C.) said in a statement. “It’s about two simple facts: We can’t afford it and they don’t need it.”
If you agree with Senator Demint, sign our petition to defund NPR and share it with your friends and contacts who agree!
