While city Council and School Board positions are considered non partisan offices, everyone who serves in these positions certainly has a political philosophy.  We need more conservatives running for these offices too.

 It is these local offices that effect the daily lives of citizens the most and make up the lion share of the property taxes you pay. What you pay in property taxes can vary greatly depending on which city or school district you live in.  The city of Ft. Worth has the highest ttax rate is  in the county, it is also one of the highest rates in the state.  Unfortunatly, there are no council races in Ft. Worth this cycle, but it never to early to  begin preparing for a  future race.

If you are a principaled conservative who lives in one of the areas that will be having elections in May, consider running for one of these positions.

For many city council members, school board trustees and wannabes with their eyes on those positions, today marks the beginning of decision time. Will they run or won’t they?

Filing for local races in the May 8 election starts today. It ends March 8.

They may not have the flash of a primary for the governor’s race, but local elections can garner some attention if they’ve got a hot-button issue or a controversial candidate is on the ballot. Most cities in Tarrant County contract with the county to conduct voting. If many races are contested, it could be a busy year, said Steve Raborn, the county’s elections administrator.

“The city of Fort Worth is not having elections, but just about all of the other cities are, and all or at least most of the school districts are having elections,” Raborn said. “We never really know until the middle of March who remains.”
