It's Your Money

Fort Worth residents listen up.

If you live or own property in  Ft. Worth, the city is facing a $77 million dollar budget shortfall.  It’s your money, and now is the time to speak up. Tell the Mayor and Council how you want them to balance the budget.

Should the city:

  • Cut spending across the board reductions in spending?
  • Target Spending Cuts?
  • Decrease or eliminate homestead exemption?
  •  Raise property taxes?
  • Reduce employee benefits?
  • Use gas well revenue to help fund the gap?
  • All of the above?

The Ft. Worth tax rate is already double the rate of other cities in the county, and is one of the highest in the state.

Citizens can sound off at City Hall June 22 at 6:30pm or on the City budget website. Make sure you also complete the online budget exercise to make your recommendations for ways to balance the Ft. Worth budget.

You can also contact members of the City council directly.  Their contact information is availible here.

If you do not speak up, the Mayor and the Council might conclude that taxpayers only care about Washington taxes and spending.
