JIM TRUITT APPOINTS CAMPAIGN TREASURER
As a prelude to what may be a run for the Tarrant County Clerk’s position, Jim Truitt has filed the
paperwork required to appoint a campaign treasurer. On record as his Treasurer is well-known
Realtor and long-time Republican activist, Teresa Rutherford.
“Jim and Vicki have been friends for many years, and I believe Jim has the civic, political,
economic & business management background, knowledge and expertise to do an excellent
job as county clerk for all Tarrant County residents,” stated Rutherford. “I’m proud to have
Teresa as my Treasurer,” Truitt said, “She is respected throughout the county, and beyond.”
Truitt, a former mayor (May, ‘90-May, ‘92) of Richland Hills, has been contemplating a run for the
position since Suzanne Henderson announced last week that she will not seek reelection.
Jim Truitt, married to state Representative Vicki Truitt (R-Keller) for 30 years, has lived in Tarrant
County since 1980. He is a native of Sterling, Colorado, and moved to Texas to attend college. He
holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Southern Methodist University.
Jim joined wife, Vicki, in their health care consulting business 25 years ago. Prior to that, he worked
for Waples-Platter and White Swan Institutional foods where he was a transportation manager and inhouse
management consultant. There he was tasked with productivity improvement, disciplinary
policy design and implementation, labor relations and management training. He was responsible for
departments of more than 100 employees, and multi-million dollar annual budgets. He also holds a
real estate license.
Jim has been active in local community affairs since he moved to Tarrant County during the early-
1980s. He is a board member of the Northeast (Tarrant County) Leadership Forum, is past President
of Metroport Cities Partnership, past Chair and Executive Committee member of Metroport Meals On
Wheels, is the former economic development advisor and Chair of the Keller Chamber of Commerce,
and is a member of the Southlake Executive Forum. As the former Mayor of Richland Hills, Jim was
a member of the Tarrant County Mayors’ Council. He was also a member and served on the boards
of the Mid-Cities and Metroport Rotary Clubs. He is a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow.
Mr. Truitt has been active in Republican circles for many years and has worked on numerous
campaigns. He is a Republican precinct chair, has been a delegate to the state convention on
multiple occasions, and is a member of the Northeast Republican Club, the Republican Forum, and
an associate member of the Republican Women of North Texas
Jim said, “If I make the decision to run, I’ll do so as an outsider. Someone from outside the
establishment of county government can look with fresh eyes on the management of this important
county department. I would want to build upon Suzanne Henderson’s successes. Customer service
and satisfaction, efficiency, and a high degree of professionalism are essential for the county clerk’s
office to function properly. And there’s always room for improvement.” “I would want to promote an
environment of total team effort,” he continued, “and mostly, it’s important for all county employees
and elected officials to understand that efficiency is paramount because the taxpayers of Tarrant
County are footing the bill for these services.”
